Chimney Re-Build, Puttenham, Surrey
Our investigations showed several reasons for the client’s continued problems. The chimney had recently been re-built, however the new bricks were unsuitable for the level of exposure. The bricks which had been used were lightweight and porous
The other issue was poor workmanship at the damp course levels, with poorly and incorrectly installed lead trays. These problems caused the chimney to leak, which was distressing to the occupants as they had recently re-decorated the room below. The before photo displays the poor workmanship at the damp course level.
Our client was very pleased with the new correctly welded lead tray and the quality of the newly built chimney. We also re-tiled the area between the bonnet hips from eaves to the chimney.
